“Let’s go find out!”
When ten-year-old Luisa said, “I don’t even know what college is!” her mentor Julie didn’t just tell her about it, she said, “Let’s go find out!”
One afternoon this fall, the two of them walked across the campus at Washburn University. Luisa visited a classroom, peeked into White Concert Hall, and wandered by the waterfall.
Over drinks in the cafeteria, Luisa said thoughtfully, “My parents didn’t go to college. Do I have to go to college?”
Julie smiled, "No, not everyone goes to college, but if that's what's best for you, I want you to know you can!"
That’s what mentoring does—it opens doors that kids didn’t even know existed. It helps them imagine new futures and believe in themselves.
And it happens because of you.
Your support provides the training and ongoing support that make these mentoring relationships possible. You help send caring adults to connect with kids who need someone in their corner.
Thank you for believing in the power of mentoring—and in the potential of every child.
