FAQs for the $25,000 Matching Gift Challenge
How does the matching gift work?
A generous donor has agreed to match 100% of new monthly donations pledged through the end of March. Set up a monthly donation today and your first year of donations will be matched up to $25,000!
For example, if you set up a new $50 monthly donation, the donor will write a check for $600, matching your first 12 monthly donations.
Why are they matching new monthly donations instead of all gifts?
Our anonymous donor recognizes that we are making a long term commitment to a group of children and their families. And so want to encourage others to "stay longer" with us as we start earlier, go deeper, and stay longer.
What if I'm already a monthly donor?
First, thank you for supporting The Bridge!
Second, our anonymous donor will match any amount you increase your monthly donation. For example, if you're already giving $50/month and you increase your monthly gift by $25 to $75/month to help launch this new program, they'll donate $300 to double your increase for the first year.
If I'm already a monthly donor, how can I increase my current monthly autodraft?
Just fill out this form and we'll make it happen for current monthly donors.
What do you mean by generational poverty?
When we say "generational poverty" we mean a family has lived in poverty for at least two generations. Generational poverty is contrasted with situational poverty. A family can experience situational poverty when their income and support is decreased due to a specific change—job loss, divorce, death, etc. While there can be a domino effect caused by this one significant change, families experiencing situational poverty tend to remain hopeful, knowing that this is a temporary setback. This typically is not so with generational poverty, which often leads to children become trapped in a culture of hopelessness.
